For the first time in the event\u2019s history, brewers had to offer at least one product with a local component to make it into the weekend\u2019s lineup. It was not difficult to find contenders.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">While localism within beer-making may be emerging, the phenomenon of craft brewing is nothing new to anyone who has ventured into a Massachusetts bar in the last five years. \u00a0According to the Brewers Association, the number of small and independent US craft brewers has boomed from 1,459 in 2007 to 2,768 in 2013.
